Final Editing + Import

These are screenshots of my final editing. This involved changing the backgrounds of certain scenes and making sure all the frames were consistent. After we was satisfied with our final music video, we imported it to our teachers.

On Wednesday 14th March, Lauren, kerry & Emily continued with editing the music video. I was unable to attend this editing session because I had a university interview for the day. Lauren and Kerry also stayed behind after school to continue with some more editing, however Emily was not able to join Kerry and Lauren in editing the music video, as she had somewhere else to be. Here are some screenshots showing what we edited.

Unused Footage

This is footage that we have filmed but did not use in our music video because we felt that the quality and lighting of the video was not good and the acting in the scene was not good either and it did just not fit anywhere in our music video.

Filming - Wednesday 8th

On Wednesday 8th Feb, we booked out the camera and tripod and we also booked out the lights, this is so that we had enough lighting when filming. We filmed at Emily's house for some final scenes from half 2 - half 5. We all felt the filming went well and we managed to get quite a bit done. Whilst filming outside Emily's house it started snowing but that was not a problem as it did not last long and we had most of our footage filmed outside. We all decided that during the half term, we will book the camera out for the day and film up Brighton so that we have enough footage for our music video and we have some ideas for the video.

Final magazine advert

This is my final magazine advert that I made in Photoshop. It took quite a bit of time and Photoshop was quite hard to figure out but I managed to produce my magazine advert in the end. We had previously done a photo shoot for our magazine advert and digipack in our school studio, I have chose a photo, as you can see above, and edited it to how I wanted it to look for my magazine advert.

In our group we have all done our own individual magazine adverts, but we are going to choose the person's who's magazine advert we think is the best and we want to represent our group and so will use as the main magazine advert for our music video. We will do this by showing our media class our magazine adverts and getting them to vote on what magazine advert we should use for our music video. We will then take into consideration their views and then we will decide.

Below are my Magazine Advert and Digipak mock up, as a group we have all made our own individual magazine advert and digipak and then we will decide whose digipak and magazine advert is best to represent the group as a whole.

Magazine Advert

I have started creating my magazine advert in photoshop which is taking some time because photoshop at first is quite difficult to use and get the hang of, however with the help of the media technicians my magazine advert is coming along okay.

This is the photo I'm using for my magazine advert, which I placed in photoshop where I will begin to edit the photo and create my magazine advert.

At this part, I was playing around with photoshop, to work out the tools and find out how I wanted the  colour of the photo. Here, I made the photo black and white.

 I was again playing around with the colour of the picture and this time was making the picture brighter and was changing the shadows and highlights of the picture which made the picture brighter.

 I made the picture even brighter again by going to image, then adjustments and then changed the brightness and contrast of the picture.







I finally got the colour of the picture which I wanted by adjusting the brightness and contrast, I balanced the colour by not making it bright or too dark.

 This is my finishing magazine advert I have added 5 stars which represent the rating of the magazine advert, I imported these stars from the internet into photoshop. I then added a long, slim rectangle shape along the right side of the magazine advert as a border, I then coloured this border purple and added the text 'Insatiables'. I also inserted the text 'Brand New Single' and 'Ego' above the picture and in a white colour font so that, the text stood out from the background and other parts of the magazine advert.

Filming - Wednesday 25th

On Wednesday 25th January, we filmed our narrative scenes at Kerry's house, where we filmed scenes that involved the boys. We filmed for about 2 hours and we managed to get some footage filmed. However, after reviewing on the day and looking back at what we have filmed, we felt that it was not good at all because the lighting was bad and the footage was quite grainy and dark and what we had filmed didn't seem to turn out very well.
We have decided we will re-film these scenes but we are going to consider doing something else where it will not involve the boys or do the scene differently. We are aiming to get all of our filming done by Sunday 5th Feb.

Filming & Magazine advert pictures- Tuesday 17th & Wednesay 18th

On Tuesday 17th, we took pictures in the studio for our magazine advert, this was during our first and second period of our media lesson. We did successfully take a range of photos with different camera angles and shots with the help of the media technician. At first we did have a little trouble with the lighting of the studio and took time to get the right camera angles and shot. The media technician helped us with the lightening of the studio and then we took individual pictures of each other. After a while, we had group pictures taken of us, again with the help of the media technician. We used both a black and white background to see what pictures we preferred on the different backgrounds and we took a variety of shots so that we have a range of pictures to choose from.

We filmed for the second time on Wednesday 18th January. We filmed during our first and second period of our media lesson which was from 9.00 -10.30. We did manage to get some filming done of  the performative part of the music video, which is where we are all in the studio singing. We managed in this time to get the performative part done. However, after our footage had been digitized, the footage looked a bit grainy and so the media technician is converting the footage into a different format. If this does not work either, we may have to consider filming again.

Equipment & Location Booking & Confirmation

These screenshots show confirmation for people of outside of school to come into the school and use the studio as we will be using 4 boys for our music video. We emailed our media teacher asking if she would be around to supervise when the boys come into the studio. Our media teacher replied she will be and that it was fine.

We then got permission and confirmed with the POST 16 office that people from outside of school are allowed to come into the school and use the studio for our music video. The POST 16 office emailed reception with the boys names, to make them aware that people from outside of school are coming in. The 4 boys will have to sign in and out at reception and will have to have a visitors pass.

We have also booked out our equipment which are the video camera and tripod and professional camera for the filming in the studio and we have also booked out the studio from 1.30 - 4.45 which was all sorted out with the media technicians.
